GOP Rep Says Black People Don’t Work as Hard as Whites

by Dr. Boyce Watkins, YourBlackWorld.comScholarship in Action

Republican State Rep from Oklahoma Sally Kern seems to think that black people don’t work as hard as whites and that we are more likely to go to prison because we think the government will take care of us.

“We have a high percentage of blacks in prison, and that’s tragic, but are they in prison just because they are black or because they don’t want to study as hard in school? I’ve taught school, and I saw a lot of people of color who didn’t study hard because they said the government would take care of them."

I would break down the ignorance of Rep. Kern’s statements, but I don’t have time for ridiculous people.  What I will say, however, is that Kern is unique in that she is one of the few Republicans silly enough to articulate her racist perceptions for the world to see.  The name of the game for the modern Republican is to speak to your racism in code language, so that when you’re called out by the black community, you are able to cover yourself.

Case in point: Donald Trump – the man who has said that President Obama isn’t doing his job because he spends all his time playing basketball, that Obama wasn’t qualified to get into Harvard, and that he’s not a real American like the rest of us.  Perhaps Kern needs to take notes from Trump on how to be the ultimate racist without actually revealing yourself.  Endorsing such despicable behavior is simply embarrassing.

Some black people do think Obama is going to take care of them. She is correct. Thats why many act as if somebody owes them something, maybe its because our black leaders are always ready to call someone a racist are say they are not letting us do something.

So your saying that African-Americans are the only race in this ethnic melting pot to say that??? I feel sorry for you and her, we should not embrace such negativity and ignorance. This world is full of hate, why do you and all other White Americans continue to spread such hate and division? When God comes to get his people he won’t see the color of your skin but the character of your heart. So instead of agreeing with this mess you should pray for her heart and yours to see beyond color and know that this issue of not working hard falls on ALL races not just African-Americans. God Bless You!

Why do we waste our time talking or writing about evil and ignorant people like this woman Kem?
They represent a portion of America that will always be ignorant. They like the attention. Please deny them that joy. Enough said.

The Kern woman is as silly as the Davenport person that sent the Obama chimp picture and had the nerve to say is was just satire. Kern is complete satire. How could a person in her position just single out a whole race and make uneducated comments is beyond me. I wonder what she has to say about Native Americans living on reservations.

Hey! This is kind of off topic but I need some guidance from an established blog. Is it difficult to set up your own blog? I’m not very techincal but I can figure things out pretty quick. I’m thinking about making my own but I’m not sure where to start. Do you have any tips or suggestions? Cheers
