Prepare Your Fried Chicken Bucket: Flav’s New Restaurant is Official
Your Black World reports
Flava Flav’s new restaurant is now open for business. Flavor Flav’s House Of Flavor is ready for customers. I’m not sure if this means we should jump for joy or run for cover.
Given that there are also reports that Flav has been bouncing checks to his employees, one is left wondering just how long his business is going to last.
Flava Flav, Fried Chicken and Liquor – Hmmm, Interesting

by Dr. Boyce Watkins, Syracuse University – Scholarship in Action
Last year, at the "Measuring the Movement" forum, hosted by Rev. Al Sharpton and the National Action Network, I had a chance to sit next to Chuck D from Public Enemy. I found Chuck to be as impressive, interesting and intelligent as he is on television. He also didn’t give off the mind-numbing, stomach-turning, arrogant celebrity vibe that I see all too much. I was thoroughly impressed.
While I feel that I have some understanding of Chuck D, I simply cannot say the same for Flava Flav. Flava almost seems to come out of a different time, place, and perhaps even another planet, from the rest of us. He would have been great in the 1920s, when black performers could make a fortune by embracing ignorant stereotypes and engaging in ridiculous behavior. Flava seems to relish his role as the cultural clown, reminding all of us of exactly what Dr. Martin Luther King did NOT want our children to become.
Your Black Celebrities: Jennifer Hudson Engaged To Reality TV Star
Is Jennifer Hudson‘s life turning into a reality show?
The “American Idol” winner just got engaged Friday night — on her birthday — to her boyfriend (of less than a year) David Otunga, also a reality TV star. Of sorts.
You may recall David Otunga, or you may not, from his appearance last year as “Punk” in the VH1 reality show “I Love New York 2.”
If you watched the show, then you know that the Oscar-winning “Dreamgirls” actress is going to marry a guy who was rejected on the show by a woman named New York who was also rejected — twice — by Flavor Flav on his own reality love show called “Flavor of Love.”
Ouch.
Maybe Hudson knows all too well the intricate and secretly scripted play-to-the-camera aspects of reality TV. Maybe that’s why she’s not bothered by New York rejecting her fiance.
Jen’s got a lot going on in her life right now. She’s engaged, has a wedding to plan, has a new album out and her new movie, “The Secret Life of Bees,” is due in theaters Oct. 17…
