I do not think that this is a battle over Barack Obama, but it appears to some that this is an attempt by Tavis Smiley to inject himself back into the national spotlight as to the addressing of a Black agenda now that President Obama has openly met with a group of Black leaders on the subject.

Now Tavis is my Kappa frat brother and I support his efforts, but as a journalist I must report that it was Tavis himself who brought an end to his annual summits and the “Where Do We Go From Here” directions to come, which is where we are now with Obama now opening up the door, So instead of Tavis doing what I did and others and just calling Rev. Sharpton and asking “What happened,” then Rev.Sharpton can do like he did and return my call and he told me, then Sharpton asked what input I could add and so on., and thus I for one was in nop need to have a press conference on “I must have a meeting on the leadership meeting,” as if I had not had access to those in the meeting of which Tavis has better access that I do.

So with that kind of access, this media frenzy in not necessary and needs to be put to and end and get us back to the agenda at hand. As a veteran activist from Chicago, and one who worked with directly with Obama when he first started organizing in Chicago, I want to help Tavis’ upcoming conference be a success fior this is the first time that a national news venue is coming to focus on “How are things in Obama’s hometown” since Obaama’s campaifn and Presidency thus far.

But for Sharpton to have been as open as he has been with me as a grassroots activist prior to and after The White House meeting, there was no need for Tavis to have come out the way that he did, for he would have been, and still is welcome on the agenda., but Tavis cannot say he’s abandoned his own agenda conferences and then abruptly insert himself back into the game as if to say “this moment will not pass me by.”

Now lets talk about how to make Tavis Chicago meeting make sense to the grassroots of Chicago.
