Does Anyone Want Mike Vick?

michael-vick

If any NFL teams are interested in Michael Vick(notes), they’re not saying.

A day after the quarterback was conditionally reinstated to the league, only the Baltimore Ravens would directly acknowledge evaluating him.

“We’ve had long discussions about Michael Vick and we have a feeling about how he would impact our team and not impact our team,” coach John Harbaugh said Tuesday.

General manager Ozzie Newsome declined comment. Previously, he has said the Ravens have enough quarterbacks.

Other teams either refused comment or insisted they wouldn’t pick up the former Atlanta Falcons star, who served 18 months in federal prison for running a dogfighting ring and was released from home confinement on July 20.

Commissioner Roger Goodell said Monday that Vick can immediately take part in preseason practices, workouts and meetings and can play in the final two preseason games—if he can find a team.

Once the season begins, Vick may participate in all team activities except games, and Goodell said he would consider Vick for full reinstatement by Week 6 (Oct. 18-19) at the latest.

Two clubs that might have seemed like a logical destination—the Miami Dolphins and Cincinnati Bengals—said they wouldn’t pursue Vick.

The only reason Vick is out of a job is because he is a black QB

Bottom line is this: Vick, Plaxico and any other Black professional athlete is nothing more than a modern-day slave!
I’m by far not the first to say this but it’s the truth so why not say it again and again and again until everyone else accepts and realizes this truism.
William C. Rhoden wrote an excellent book over three years ago entitled “Forty Million Dollar Slaves” named after a quote by former NBA All-star Larry Johnson.
But this situation proves that no matter what the law says about Vick being free after serving two years, he still isn’t free to resume his NFL career according to Roger GODdell.
Roger GODdell still has to be convinced that Vick is remorseful for his “crimes against humanity.” Please!
And it kills me hearing these sycophantic sellouts like the Atlanta Journal Constitution’s Terrence Moore get on his soapbox castigating the likes of Vick while praising Goodell as a savior.
What Moore and his ilk fail to realize is that within five or more years, the NFL, NBA under David Stern will take these two sports back to the pre 1970s and ’80s when both leagues were less than half majority Black.
This is why Stern has begun expansion into the international arena bringing in more foreign-born players.
They’re listening to their advertisers and largely white fan bases who’ve grown sick of seeing these ebonic speakin’, pants saggin,’ hip-hop blastin’ cornrowed “ghetto beasts” making million$ and having the audacity to move next door to them and more.
See they love us so long as we’re distant such as on tv running up and down the court or football field but off it, we’re seen as undesirables still.
This is the pressure that GODdell is under or these are the people he has to appease.
So don’t be surprised at all if Vick goes the whole season without being signed. He’ll likely receive the same hands off treatment that Barry Bonds had two years ago after breaking Hank Aaron’s homerun record.
But more importantly this should be a message to all Black athletes that your time in the sun. Your time of making million$ on top of million$ and ballin’ outta control are coming to a dead end! So you best start investing wisely and expanding.
If nothing more do something revolutionary such as forming a competing football or basketball league to compete with the NBA and NFL. Imagine if the best and more prominent athletes from both sports combined their resources to launch such an endeavor.
A league where you set the rules and don’t have to abide by some self-righteous peckerwood such as GODdell.
    How about that!
